6.1 Wallet-Based Identity
The first layer of Proofile’s architecture begins with wallet authentication. Users connect their primary wallet (or multiple wallets) using secure methods such as WalletConnect, MetaMask, or Ledger. This establishes the user’s anchor point for data aggregation.
Unlike Web2 platforms that rely on email/password credentials, Proofile uses wallet signatures as the unique identifier—verifying identity through ownership of a private key, not a username or centralized server.
Users can optionally:
Add ENS names or Unstoppable Domains for personalization.
Link multiple wallets into one profile using signature-based proof.
Control visibility and data syncing for each wallet.
This model embraces the pseudonymous yet provable nature of Web3—allowing a user to remain anonymous while still demonstrating value, expertise, and integrity through on-chain proof.
